Welcome to the Joe Brown Outdoor Academy.
Joe Browns and The Climbers Shop have been advising and equipping customers for their outdoor adventures for over 60 years. We are incredibly proud of our big history and a key part of our role has always been to share our knowledge with customers as well as being a hub for information on climbing, mountaineering, hillwalking, expeditions and ultra running.
As a small, independently owned business run by people passionate about the outdoors, we have a wealth of product knowledge available to you from our staff team in the form of Buying Guides and through our long term relationships with the British Mountain Guides, The International School of Mountaineering and a wealth of local specialist Instructors we are extremely proud to be able to offer a much broader arena of activities, skills and knowledge.
The Joe Brown Outdoor Academy is all about sharing that little bit of extra knowledge; If you want to know about activities, skills and knowledge just ASK! ACTIVITIES
Whether you are venturing outside for the first time, planning your first Alpine season or itching to venture into the greater ranges we know a fantastic group of Guides and Instructors who will teach you how to stay safe and have fun in the mountains.
SKILLS
Want to hone your navigation skills or learn how to walk with poles efficiently? Maybe you have an expedition in mind and need some more skills? We can lead you to some of the countries most experienced Instructors who can get you on the right path to achieve your activity goals.
KNOWLEDGE
Over the years we have worked with a number of outdoor athletes, specialists and of course, our own staff team to provide a wealth of information for our customers. If you have questions about anything from high altitude medicine to waterfall ice you might just find the answers here!
